Once again, we were with those who are not always able to say aloud that they are having a hard time. We distributed food parcels to elderly IDPs who, because of age, fatigue and diseases, hardly ever leave their homes. Many of the parcels were picked up by their relatives or friends. By organising this event, we wanted to tell them one thing: ‘You are not alone.’
The parcels contained canned meat, buckwheat, barley, sugar, tea, biscuits and condensed milk. Yes, these are basic things. But for some people, they are a luxury. Because pensions are miserable. Because payments are not always on time. Because life has forced them to leave everything and start again from scratch at an advanced age. We have also received many requests for help with diapers for the elderly. As soon as we are able, we will definitely respond to these needs.
