Dear friends, we have good news from Kherson! 90 lamps and 10 lanterns with solar panels sent by the Favor Foundation have been delivered to the residents of the Korabel district. In this area of the city, there is a Сhurch in honour of the Kasperiv Icon of the Mother of God, located almost at the ‘0’ of the front line.
This is what the rector of the church, Archpriest Ioann Gordienko, wrote on his Facebook page:
‘Light. Hope. Humanity.
Our Korabel neighbourhood in Kherson has been without electricity for almost two months. Before that, there were outages, but the power came back on. But this time, it’s for a longer time: during another shelling, a rocket destroyed a substation that cannot be restored.
Without electricity, there is no heating. Water supply is only according to a schedule, because the pumps are powered by a generator. I don’t even want to talk about shelling and drones – it’s part of our everyday life. One of the drones recently ‘rested’ in the church yard – either the battery was dead or God saved us…
In such conditions, survival is possible only with God’s help and the support of kind people who care about the fate of others.
One of these trusted friends of our church community is the FAVOR Charitable Foundation, which has been helping Kherson residents in need for many years.
Thanks to them, our parishioners have received power banks that can be charged by the sun. We also handed over some of these devices to the priests of our city, who often have to perform their services without any household utilities – even without electricity. In our conditions, this is truly invaluable help.
We sincerely thank all the benefactors who donated funds for the purchase of the lanterns and the FAVOR Foundation for their organisation and humanity. Together we keep the light on even in the darkness.’
Dear friends, we would like to thank everyone who has contributed.
Together, we are truly keeping the lights on – literally and in a deeper sense.
